Pursuit of it All

Fun Subscription Boxes Every Woman Needs To Try

I love to shop. Like LOVE to.

Clothing, shoes, furniture, cute little knickknacks and accouterments people don’t need, but like. I could spend most of every day going from store to store shopping, buying things I might return later—because SO CUTE—with girlfriends and coffees and chatter and fun.

Only, ain’t nobody got time for that.

In the real world I live in, shopping is more like a get in and get out before one of my children loses his mind.

Subscription boxes give me the best of both worlds. I can shop online in my jammie pants for things I really need and like, sans kid freak outs, sans impulse buying. But still, all of the pretty things!

Fun Subscription Boxes Every Woman Needs To Try!

And great gifts, and good food, and beauty products to keep you vibrant and beautiful.

That’s the awesome thing about the subscription boxes we love—they allow you to receive expertly curated items you are guaranteed to love, without all of the time suck and hassle spending all day hunting them down.

Check out our faves here!

CATE & CHLOE

For people who love accessories, but always get distracted by shoes and clothes and forget to buy them, this is the perfect box for you. I am a “more is more” kind of girl when it comes to accessories, and they allow me to feed my obsession with gorgeous, affordable pieces. You take a quick style quiz to help your stylist determine what you might like, pay the fee (which includes shipping), and wait for your bling to arrive. You can cancel or postpone when you need, and you can gift it to a friend if you want to. BLING!

CAUSEBOX BY SEVENLY

The thing I love most about these quarterly boxes curated for women is that not only are they filled with chic, fun pieces specifically for style-loving ladies, they are for good.

The products included in these boxes are all from companies that inspire positivity and change. Your box includes $150 worth of products for $49.95 and Sevenly contributes a significant amount of each box back to charity. It’s an awesome way to do good, and also enjoy products you love to support.

HELLO FRESH

If I’m honest, I’m not much for cooking. I am okay at making the few dishes my kids will eat without complaint, but anything adventurous stresses my brain and my time to a point that I just make chicken nuggets again. And then I met Hello Fresh. They create the recipes, they shop for the food, and they send it to your house. They do NOT cook it for you, so if that’s a deal breaker, then don’t order. But if not, get on it. The recipes are healthful and flavorful and can meet some dietary restrictions as well.

STITCH FIX

I know I’m late to the party on this my Stitch Fix obsession, but oh my gosh it is awesome! I’m the first to admit that I’m not a very good shopper on my own. I rarely deviate from my signature style (read: black and boring) and I hate trying clothes on in a public dressing room. Stitch Fix solves all of my issues by giving me the freedom to try it on in the privacy of my own home while also sending me gorgeous styles that surprise and delight.

My stylist is terrific at picking pieces for me that I would otherwise not be giving a second glance. Why did I wait so long to try this out?!? There is a $20 styling fee that is applied towards anything you purchase, so it’s a no-brainer in my book.

(As an aside, Stitch Fix gives you a referral code with which can earn you credits toward your next fix. Free clothes, people! If you’re interested in trying it out while spreading the love, grab a code from one of us: Amanda, Jen or  Liza.)

RUNNERBOX

My mind was blown when I was introduced to this concept. Runnerbox has everything from gels, chews, protein shakes/supplements, nutrition bars, energy boosters, healthy snacks, personal care, and pretty much any running accessory you can imagine.

BIRCHBOX

Who doesn’t love a goody bag filled with beauty product samples? This is the one of the best subscription box for all of the beauty lovers out there. Birchbox delivers high-end “beauty, grooming, and lifestyle” samples once a month, customized for the end user.

HOMETOWN HARVEST

My husband and I are friends with the folks behind Hometown Harvest, Abby and Tony—full disclosure. Our daughters have sleepovers and we love vising their farm, which sits at the base of some of the mountains in Frederick County!

Hometown Harvest is like farmers’ market meets CSA, and it’s delivered right to your doorstep in most of Maryland, Washington D.C., and Northern Virginia. They grow some of the produce themselves (mass quantities of peppers being hauled in right now!), and also source locally from other farmers to bring seasonal, delicious, organically grown and sustainable goodies right to your doorstep. Like, DELIVERED.

You get to pick out your own items each week, bi-weekly, monthly, or just here and there. OR, you can simply choose the small or large bag size and let them fill it with whatever’s freshest and in season—this is what I did, and the surprises were fun…kiwi berries, anyone?! Get all the details here.

MARLEY SPOON

Being a foodie, I’ve been hesitant to try all those “pre-packaged fresh meal boxes” that everyone talks about. It’s cheating, right? Eh—maybe. (Also, who cares?)

Enter Marley Spoon. They reached out to me a couple weeks ago to see if I’d like to try one of their boxes. They create delicious, easy to follow recipes; deliver fresh, pre-portioned ingredients; and let you cook what you want, when you want—starting as low as $8.90 per meal.

Intriguing, right? Here’s more of the how.

Their culinary director has street cred, too. Jennifer Aaronson is the former Editorial Director of Food and Entertaining at Martha Stewart Living (whaaaaat?!), which means, in plain English, she knows what she’s doing in the kitchen and the world of food. Check over at (a)Musing Foodie sometime next week; my box arrives on Tuesday or Wednesday!

CLUB W

WINE. I love a crisp glass of white at the end of a long day. Or mid-afternoon on the weekend. Or…anytime, really. With Club W, you can get three bottles for $39 and a flat shipping fee delivered to your door every month. Each month they’ll make recommendations based upon a flavor profile you complete, with questions like, “How do you take your coffee,” and “Are you an adventurous eater?”

The goal at Club W is to make wine tasting and selection fun, not pretentious. When I filled out my flavor profile, my suggested wines included: Easy Peasy Lemon Squeezy Sauvignon Blanc (yaaasssss!) and 2014 Wonderful Wine Co. White Blend (the description says “without the oak,” which is right up my alley!). I’m totally on board. Wine me!

Amanda recently changed her spirit animal from the unicorn to Pegasus; wings are cooler than horns. She enjoys cute shoes, oversized bags, and telling her budget to suck it. Also cupcakes; every day is a cupcake day. Sometimes she does super fun things with her kids, but mostly that's because paying a babysitter would mean buying fewer shoes. She also loves professional football, Stephan Curry, taking amazing pictures of gorgeous people, and getting into dance battles in the grocery store. Wegmans on Tuesday, that's what's up.

Hey Amanda…LOVE all your suggestions! Can’t wait to dive right in as I have not done subscription boxes since my kids were little and they would get the craft boxes each month! Do you have any suggestions for chocolate or sweet boxes of the month? My philosophy is a piece of chocolate (or a good sweet chocolate chip cookie or cupcake) a day keeps the doctor away….much better than an apple!!
