Pursuit of it All

You Say Hippie Clothing, I Say Sustainable Fashion

In today’s market there are a number of stylish, well made fashion brands that are also earth conscious.

Personally, I think this concept is the best ever! I can look good and not feel guilty about it. And, when my husband starts with the whole waaaaait-didn’t-you-JUST-buy-a-new-purse-Tuesday I can be all, yeah-but-it-saves-lives-this-purse. You can’t argue with a purse that saves lives, people.

And, it gives me hope that one day, science we’ll come up with a calorie-free cupcake! Or a sweat-free workout!

Sigh, life would be so awesome then.

Until then, I will happily settle for chic and cute items made well, with as little impact on the land as possible, that also help humans live better. Call it hippie clothing if you want to, I just want it in my closet.

Here are some of my faves…

You say hippie clothing, I say sustainable fashion!

Chic and Stylish Sustainable Clothing

Lael. They make seriously hip leather bags. And, every time you buy one, they also get to provide 90 meals for orphaned kids and homeless people around the world.

Renu Shoes. Eco friendly, vegan, comfy, and cute. The ballet flats are my favorite.

Canopy Verde. Sustainable bags with a classic style. I love the crossbody bags that can also be carried as a clutch when you remove the strap.

Greenolastyle. Hands down my favorite seller of handmade accessories. Super bonus because when you buy from here you are supporting their mission of empowerment for female artisans in South America.

Causebox by Sevenly. It’s a quarterly gift service that provides women with socially conscious goods from stylish vendors. It makes a great gift and there’s nothing wrong with subscribing to it for yourself. I get so very excited to see what is going to come in the box each quarter. Also awesome, 7% of the box price goes to charity and you can choose the one (from a list of partners) that will benefit from your donation.

Plae. Because kids can be stylish and sustainable too! We are major fans of this brand and think they are by far some of the best shoes for kids on the market right now. The shoes are comfy (according to my 7-year-old), made to endure hardcore playtime, and created with an eco-friendly upper (it’s milk jugs, y’all, milk jugs!). Also, CUTE.

Amanda recently changed her spirit animal from the unicorn to Pegasus; wings are cooler than horns. She enjoys cute shoes, oversized bags, and telling her budget to suck it. Also cupcakes; every day is a cupcake day. Sometimes she does super fun things with her kids, but mostly that's because paying a babysitter would mean buying fewer shoes. She also loves professional football, Stephan Curry, taking amazing pictures of gorgeous people, and getting into dance battles in the grocery store. Wegmans on Tuesday, that's what's up.
