I have never really been good with makeup.

A little mascara, some blush, lip gloss, maybe some powder if it’s a particularly blocked pore kind of month. I’m fortunate to have pretty decent skin and the inability to care long enough to do anything more. But, despite my lack of ability, I’ve always found it intriguing and fascinating to watch how expertly some women can transform themselves by simply knowing what to use and how to use it.

Sam is one of those women. She makes magic on her wildly popular YouTube beauty channel and her thousands and thousands of fans will testify that she is sort of a big deal.

But she is so much more than her YouTube channel.

When I met her on a blogging trip a few months ago, I was immediately intrigued by her business successes and impressed with her tenacity as a young, successful business owner. I find her work inspirational to anyone with a vision, and am excited to follow her career as she continues to grow…to see where she winds up!

Also, I need to know which foundation I should get from Ulta — I’m cleaning out.

Give us the deets on your life and career…

I’m a 23 year old mom of two girls. I’ve been a self-employed YouTuber since 16 and I make beauty related videos (tutorials, reviews, all some fashion and hair from time to time).

I also dabble in some not-so-daily vlogs to capture some memories of my family and my life.

Who would you say have been your biggest role models?

My biggest role model as corny as it sounds would be my big sister. I have one sibling and she is seven years older than me so I watched her go through many milestones way before I did. She was all of the characteristics I aspired to be. Respectful, independent, strong and motivated.

What do you love about your job and your life?

I truly love being my own boss. I jokingly say that I have issues with authority so I couldn’t work under anyone else. Being slightly true, I love that my job is flexible location and time wise so I have time to dedicate a lot of time to my kids.

My girls are what I truly love about my life. As long as they are happy then everything else just falls into place.

What has brought or given you the greatest satisfaction or fulfillment?

I never thought my happiness would be solely based on two little children but after having kids I can’t imagine being happy without them. They can blabber gibberish and smile and suddenly my heart is so full. Giving them the best life I can provide and being able to raise them to be the best people they can be is my ultimate fulfillment in life.

What’s one thing most people don’t know about you?

I can dance! Recently I posted a video which surprised a lot of people. There of course is a lot more that is unknown about me but I have been told that my love for dancing is one of the most surprising things about me.

Got anything fun on your bucket list?

My bucket list is mainly food related. I want to travel to Japan and eat everywhere!! They have such creative out of this world restaurants. I can’t wait to experience them.

When/where do you get your best ideas?

I’m more productive at night. Definitely a night owl. Whether it be at my desk or in bed the later it is the more I accomplish. I’m down right a useless zombie in the morning. As far as location goes there isn’t a certain place.

Three things you cannot live without?

(Assuming my family doesn’t count…) My car, my computer and my phone. Don’t judge me! But with those three things I can accomplish almost anything.

Oddest thing in your purse right now?

Bubble tea menu card. I really need to throw it away!

Current fashion/beauty obsession?

I’m obsessed with matte liquid lipsticks. I’ve been wear a bunch of shades from Kat Von D beauty lately. Fashion wise, jerseys. They are making a comeback so the tomboy in me is all for it!

Amanda recently changed her spirit animal from the unicorn to Pegasus; wings are cooler than horns. She enjoys cute shoes, oversized bags, and telling her budget to suck it. Also cupcakes; every day is a cupcake day. Sometimes she does super fun things with her kids, but mostly that's because paying a babysitter would mean buying fewer shoes. She also loves professional football, Stephan Curry, taking amazing pictures of gorgeous people, and getting into dance battles in the grocery store. Wegmans on Tuesday, that's what's up.
