The Wizarding World of Harry Potter: Tips, Tricks and Easter Eggs!

To say that I’m a Harry Potter fan is an understatement. I’ve read all of the books (multiple times), own all of the movies, and have dug into online fan fiction more times than I care to admit as an adult. I wouldn’t say I’m the ultimate fan; however, I’m definitively in the uber fan category. I can wax poetic with the best of them about themes and subtext. (For the record, I always knew Snape was a hero.) Visiting The Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando® has been on my bucket list for quite some time, so when the…

Truth be told, I was secretly dreading this upcoming 10 day cruise to Alaska, even though I knew once we embarked I’d enjoy it. I don’t take long vacations, I was worried about being away for so long from work, I didn’t do any research ahead of time AND I didn’t look at the available excursions. My blood sugar starts the downward spiral around 10 AM if my belly’s empty, and I start nearing hangry level as lunch approaches. Heaven help me if lunch gets delayed, too. It can be hard enough to tackle a busy day with a smile, let alone with the added…

"The BFG" — the funniest, fartiest, friendliest giant you'll ever meet!

I have never been a huge Roald Dahl literary fan. I like all of his books-turned-movies; but, I never really enjoyed the book version of his stories. I know, weird. The books are always better than the movies! Always! But, I guess Roald is just not my jam. The BFG was no different. I have no less than three copies of that book tucked into various shelves and nooks and crannies in my home (I was a teacher, I have young kids, people give me free books all of the time, and I am a hoarder), and I never…
