What We Love: June 2015 - NYC

We can hardly believe June is over. OVER. Fini. Hello, July! Summer’s in full swing now, and we’re loving the warmer weather except when it’s 100°F and desperately muggy, trips to the pool, evening cookouts with friends, dining al fresco, and family vacations. In related news, it’s also time for the June round-up of things we love! Amanda Summer exhausts me. Like I want to nap everywhere and move as little as possible in between. Something about the heat. And the activity. And the kids crawling all over me begging for my attention. And, my fashion game is not on…

Simple hacks to help you turn your everyday family vacation into a DIY spa-inspired getaway.

I’ve always been envious of ladies who have the opportunity to embark on a luxurious spa and wellness trip. These outings seem to be out of reach and reserved for only the extremely affluent or the childless. (I realize that may not be the case but the delusion helps me cope.) Just because I am not in the position to book myself a week at a resort in Montana, doesn’t mean I haven’t found ways to work a spa experience into my annual vacation. Au contraire! This is one of our do-not-miss festivals…

Blueberry crumble bars are meant to be dessert, a delicious shareable snack for things like book club, a picnic with friends, or break time with your co-workers (they’ll thank you tremendously, trust me). But, I’ve found they also go well with coffee in the morning. Not too sweet, a little tart from the splash of lime…perfect. We happen to be heading towards the end of blueberry season here in Maryland, which means you can make these lovelies with local berries…

10 Things To Know About Getting Your Hair Done At The Temple, A Paul Mitchell Partner School in Frederick, MD

I frequently get asked about where I get my hair done. It’s something curly girls just know to do when they see a curly comrade with a decent cut and style: run at her quickly, stranger though she may be, and ask with anxious elation who is in charge of her locks. In fact, all women sorta know this trick. Love your home girl’s hair color or cut, ask her where she got it and go there, fingers crossed her stylist will make you look all glow-y and skinny and pretty and cool too. In my case, the answer…
